Then it will not be difficult for you to compare and compare the wiring on the old and new sites. To confirm or refute this assumption.

I'm sorry you've lost me here, I'm not sure what you're asking me to do.

If the handle is no longer detected and hangs on the base after installing a new contact pad, then there is only one reason for this - this very new contact pad. Therefore, I propose to compare its wiring with the old one or install the old one altogether.

Success! I've installed the older contact setup and it's working again - at least we've identified the problem!

I noticed when I pulled the new contact out it looks slightly different to the old one - was I maybe sent the wrong version?
See pic - old semi-working contact on the left, new non-working contact on the right.

These are both for different handles - left and right (there are markings on them). But they are mixed up, the contact - (minus) should be against the hole for the pin when installing. But try to combine it with this photo, it doesn’t work.

I assumed they were left and right which was only made weirder because the "L" was what shipped with my grip originally and the "R" is what I was replacing it with.

So what do I do now?
I've obviously replaced my original grip contact setup, but it's less than perfect.
I still have connection issues when pushing the grip to the extremes and just now while playing I've lost the grip entirely (back to blank LED when re-plugging).

Is it just the grip or the entire right GF that is lost?

Looks like just the grip

Show a photo of the current contact pad in the base rod. You can also try swapping the tightening nuts of the left grip with the right one. Perhaps they are slightly different, it is impossible to determine by eye. There were cases when, by filing them a little, the problem went away.

I don't intend to file down my tightening bolts, we're getting into the realm of the ridiculous here.
If I even had metal files (I don't) I wouldn't feel comfortable doing this.

Here is a pic of the contact pad in the base rod.

Can the photo be made better and focused on the board?

I see a rather strange arrangement of contacts, literally on the edge. Although even with this arrangement the handle can work normally. Therefore, there was only one reason left - not a rigid fixation on the rod. Try swapping the locking pins on the left and right grips.
Take the same photo of the grip.

I have swapped the locking pins and it seems to be having a positive effect on the right grip, but the left grip is now having issues.
