Gladiator NXT - No button working and only 2 axis

Postby xenogray » Fri Jul 28, 2023 23:23

Hey everyone,

I'm coming here as a loast resort, I believe I tried everything I could.

I bought a used Gladiator NXT (Left hand) a few weeks ago but I couldn't make it work properly :
No button on the stick is "seen" on the VKB Device Config when pressed, and only the X and Y axis are detected, the Z axis rotation does nothing.

I've tried multiple firmwares, a dozen "Default" button on the Device Config, etc...

One thing to note though : One cable was snapped (from the stick) and was fixed and aother one was not in the plug and has also been fixed. I have a friend that works in microelectronics that fixed it. He tested the stick with the base to check if electrical states were changing if buttons are pressed and he's positive that the base "sees" when a button is pressed (let's just say the trigger button).

Any help would really be appreciated, please, and I'm available for any extra needed information :)

Firmware tested : 2.13D, 2.146, 2.14A, 2.14E
VKB Device Config 0.92.79

Something I found interesting :

Sounds like the 3 wires cable which connects the grip to the base is faulty. Check it again and if you're there post a pic with the base internals too.

Hi,

Thank you for the quick answer. They have been electrically tested and they do send informations to the base.

EDIT : In the case where it is the cable that is too damaged in one way or another, is it possible to change it ?

Swap the black and red wires in the connector.

Thank you very much for the information :)

I will try that as soon as possible and will get back to you with the results.
In the case that it still doesn't work, do you think it is possible to swap it out with a new version of the 3 cables ?

Regards,
Xeno.

EDIT : I just found pictures here and there of people's connectors, and they are exactly like mine (GND as red cable, black one on the right), are you sure I should switch these ? My friend in electronics says it is possible to damage components if the voltage is not the one expected.

EDIT2 : Replace the piece with the cable, they were def at fault, everything works now :)
Thank you.
