T-rudder mod ?

Postby Gargouille » Sat Apr 22, 2023 22:26

Hi,
Is there any plan at vkb to release a mod for the T-Rudder ?
Something that could give some kind of "smooth resistance" the same way the dry clutches give with the gladiator nxt EVO...

I've bought 2 Gladiator NXT in 2021,
upgraded the left one with the Omni Throttle Adapter in 2022,
and just upgraded both with the GNX to EVO Upgrade Kit, + a T-rudder MKIV to complete the setup !

I must admit it's very nice that a company gives the opportunity to upgrade old stuff,
trusting by the way the customer not to screw up everything while upgrading the beast !

Too early to talk about that. After TECS hopefully.

Ok, I guess you don't want anymore to give information too long before release
Thanks for the small hint that something may be planned sometimes
No problem, I can wait

Now that the TECS/STECS is ready for takeoff, can we talk about mods/upgrades for the T-rudder ?

That should be the next move, but not until we get through the STECS wave so we could catch a breath.

Ok, we've seen the release of the new T-Rudder Mk. V.
but, even if an upgrade kit is planned at some point, I can see no information about a dry clutch or damper inside the Mk. V, or am I missing something ?
that mod I was talking about in april is yet to be announced or this is just an upgrade kit for Mk. IV to Mk. V and no damper/dry clutch to expect ?

I have two wishes for official add-ons.

  • Dry clutch / dampener.
I have my own made, and it makes huge difference to flight, as I primarily fly helicopters, it is a must for ones that has trimmed anti-torque pedals.
  • A pedal switch. People usually want a second and third axis to pedals so they can get toe breaks. I have never seen need for those, as I use brake axis in joystick to make pedals work as virtual toe brakes. Even in aircraft that has only toe brakes to maneuver like C-101.
But what is needed is trimmer switch that will just send a button press from both separately. So when you make anti-torque adjustment, the trimmer system gets information that pedals move and stop fighting back.
I could make my own (likely do), and it is not really really required as you can again use trimmer separately, but it would be very welcome.
