So this morning my Gunfigher Mk III suddenly started acting up in the axis.
I got out of game and inspected in VKB software, and it was not recognizing y axis but adding a rot z axis for it, and was way off to the left. I have tried re-calibrating with no luck. I took the gimbal out and inspected, I had a wire I had soldered on one of the cables some time ago that had gotten cut in half inside the gimbal, I inspected it and it still looked fine. However I had a spare harness now I had gotten from VKB so went ahead and replaced it to be safe.
Sill no go, all axis pretty much screwed up. I have tried reseating the stick to the base several times and nothing is working.
Has my Mk III gone belly up? Bad timing I had whole day set aside for trying out my new 4090 GPU in flight sims...
The light is green on the front of my Ultimate Grip and blue on the Link box. Which is normally what they both display so nothing odd on the lights.
Correction - it is the x axis not being read properly, it is identifying it as rot y. Buttons appear to be a little messed up as well.
Gunfighter MK III axis has gone bad

Re: Gunfighter MK III axis has gone bad
When I run VKB Device cfg it reports: "You use very old version it is necessary to update the firmware". However it will not list the device for me to update the firmware therefore I can not update it. Did this thing totally die on me or what?

You must first determine the cause that interferes with the firmware. These can be third-party programs from Gigabyte, Logitech and others. Or is it a hardware failure. You can disconnect the base from the BB and try to flash a completely different firmware, for example, for pedals. And only then fill in the right one. Try to flash on another machine, laptop.
Re: Gunfighter MK III axis has gone bad
I just added a Gigabyte 4090 3 days ago. I use it's software to control fan speeds.
Has that fried my stick?
Blackbox now has a blue and a green light lit up. Typically that light is only blue.

Ok I have disabled my Gigabyte Software, now the Gunfighter it showing up in the device list.
What should I do next?
This is not good, kind of need that software for my new 4090 gpu...
Axis is still all messed up. I do not understand though, been using the GPU software for three days without issue, why now reckon? Now blue light is flashing on box, green light solid...

I finally was able to successfully flash teh firmware, however it changed nothing. Axis are still messed up. As are buttons. Pretty sure it's dead.

Try what Ron suggested, to reflash the device on a different computer. Once the profile has been restored and the device calibrated it should work on the other computer, as all the data is stored internally.
It could be an issue of power, these new graphic cards are power hungry, so try a different USB port or a powered USB hub.

Try to turn off/disconnect other USB devices, swap USB ports.
Re: Gunfighter MK III axis has gone bad
Ok I got it back working properly - at least for now whew!!
I rebooted my PC and tried again, this time axis were identified properly and calibrated just fine. Going to try and bring in my profile now with my device settings.
That was very ,very wierd! I will try setting a fixed fan speed for gaming where I can close the Gigabyte software before using the stick. Though I am really not sure what caused this!! I had gone in and set up my controls for IL-2 ( had been flying DCS) and it was right after that all this happened so no telling.
Thanks guys, sorry I got a little ill tempered there but was getting quite frustrated with it all lol. I am just thrilled it is now backi!! I use this thing several hours every day (beauty of retirement) and was already having withdrawels lol.
Buttons on look good now as well - double whew!

Re: Gunfighter MK III axis has gone bad
You only have to turn off the GigaByte utility software when setting up the joystick (flashing and calibrating it). After that, all info will get into the bb's internal memory and it should run fine along other programs.
