I'm looking at setting up a couple of freestanding Windows 10 Enterprise computers with a joystick to control some custom SW. However, these are not connected to the Internet, and the number of hoops I have to jump through to get 3rd party SW on them are staggering. Will a Gladiator NXT EVO "Space Combat Edition" work as an input device in Windows straight out of the box, without needing custom drivers installed or firmware flashed?
My alternative is just buying a couple of XBox controllers, but I'd rather have a proper joystick to work with.

Re: "Out of the box" on Windows 10
There are no drivers needed, but it’s recommended to set it up properly and calibrate it before using (calibration process at the end of the guide).
It could be calibrated on other computer though, as the calibration values are stored in internal memory and not on the computer. After set up and calibrated it needs no background running software or drivers in order to work.

Our SW already has dead zone and calibration support internally, so that will likely work well for our purposes. Thanks for the reply, I'll get purchasing to order a sample soon.

You won't need drivers or firmware, that much is plug and play. But in order to calibrate the stick you'll definitely need VKB's software installed. DO NOT under any circumstances try to use windows to calibrate or manage these devices. You'll only create------more hoops for yourself! Guessing if it's an enterprise machine and you're not an admin--so that might be a problem. The solution for that includes editing a registry file so I'm guessing that's gonna be a flat out no. So just don't do it! Food for thought.
