pov button into switch

I have the VKB gladiator nxt evo scg L
Is it possible to turn the mode switch used to toggle between pov / ministick into a button that can be used in games/software?
I have found the option to set the default mode for the ministick under profile>USSw pov1 (uncheck POV mode on start) I won't be using the pov mode but would like to use this button to toggle headlock in elite dangerous like I used to with my old twcs throttle.

In Profile/Buttons/Physical buttons click mouse on the uSSw blue cell (1).
In the new window set up the button as TempoB (2), then click on the logical representation cell of that button (3) and set it to button 41 (4).
Press Set (5) to save changes.

I followed that but the button doesn't seem to be usable in games and it doesn't show up in windows joystick configuration.
It also still toggles from stick to pov mode and back when you hold the button as opposed to tapping it normally.

I take it back it does work in other software but it doesn't in elite dangerous

That's because E:D only recognizes the first 32 buttons on a joystick. Use button 32 instead of 41, this should work.

I'm using the following devices:
- Gladiator NEXT EVO with SCG Premium Grip (Right)
- Gladiator NEXT EVO Omni Throttle with SCG Premium Grip (Left)
- GNX THQ with GNX USB Controller (HID-Main)
I was able to use the POV button as switch in firmware v2.11.5 but it doesn't seem to work in v2.12.4 and v2.12.5 anymore.
In the latest version even when in POV mode both axis are still active.
The reason why I upgraded to v2.12.4 is because the 2D circular deadzone didn't work in v2.11.5.

Is there a recommended firmware version where both work correctly?
Do you recommend to flash to the latest version?
Are there stable releases and beta releases?
