They usually don't unless they've been in extreme temperatures environment. I suggest to take them out and see if the gimbal moves freely.
Sorry for the long list, just want to make sure you won't be paying for new parts just to realize there are more issues with the joystick. Parts are not expensive, shipping is.

No charge, just shipping. That's what I call Customer Service!
