What are the 2 irregularly shaped black items in the UCM mount package?

What are the 2 irregularly shaped black items in the UCM mount package?

In the various components supplied with the UCM mount (gunfighter, and also in one for the Gladiator) there are two black metal pieces, shaped a bit like "L"...about 3cm long. I have no idea what they are for. Any ideas or instructions? Many thanks.
