MCG Ultimate paint peeling off

Postby mobbmann » Mon Aug 15, 2022 18:53

I noticed the paint is peeling off my MCG Ultimate grip. Its starting to flake off where my palm rests on the front. The seam is starting to lose more and more paint. I've only had this grip a few months and I only use water and a paper towel to wipe it down once in a while. I have taken pictures of the paint peeling. I live in a home with air conditioning and the room my flight stick is in is climate controlled. I've enclosed a couple of pictures of where the paint is peeling off. I notice its started running down the seam.

The stick has been working great, this was unexpected to say the least.

Swaety palms maybe? The natural oils in your hand may well be the problem. The paint, or whatever process used is pretty solid. My KG 12 has similar wearing etc., but that was after I used alcohol to remove some tape debris. I bet it's sweat. Good luck buddy...take care..

Could've also been a small air bubble under the paint. Fill up a service ticket please.

Fall out, I think its not just that spot on closer examination. there was a small spot on the top and the entire seam on both halves of the stick is starting to peel off. I love the function of this stick but I dont want to have to worry about paint peeling off in the future on a stick that costs over 500.00 dollars. Trouble ticket submitted, thanks fallout. BTW: No flashing lights anymore since last I posted.

Yeah appears to be an odd one. Been running my Ultimate Grip since Jan 2021 and not showing any signs of paint peeling. And I use this thing daily.

Unfortunately more paint is still flaking off, this time on the left side below wherre the other paint already peeled off. From the sounds of it, it sounds like this is a one off and I'm ok with that as long as its made right in the end. Here is a pic of the paint peeling on the left by the center seam.

These pics should be attached to your ticket, can’t get help with this here.

quick update:
VKB customer support is simply amazing. They shipped me a replacement grip and all I have to do is put the old one in the box and send it back. I've already bought some other items from VKB since then knowing they stand behind their products. I realized the paint peeling off was a real one off situation but the way it was handled made this a positive experience.

Thanks again Fallout and Zero Thunder, I look forward to bombarding you in the future with Noob questions regarding a new product :D

Hello, glad I found this thread, mine looks like this!

The coating started to come off a few month back. First it was only a small spot but it quickly came off at the whole middle part of the grip.
Now it really bothers me. It's my dream stick. Best there is!!! Maybe we got a bad batch, I am going to ask support. Pretty sure VKG got us covered on this matter.

Hello there

I've only recently started to intensively use my MCG Ultimate bought in 2021 and I notice that the painting is peeling off the same way. Thank you for this useful thread. I've just opened a ticket (9939).

A bit disappointed with this issue but overall super happy with the product :-)

Best

Hello. Unfortunatly i have the same problem.
First i was like it dont matter too much, but now i think for such high quality product i have the right to use the warranty.

So i guess i just have to open a ticket?
