Gunfighter 3 & Kosmosima grip connection dropping.

Postby Rahvel » Mon Aug 01, 2022 9:41

Hello!

I recently purchased twin SCGs with Gunfighter 3 bases, an OTA and pedals for a setup to be used with Star Citizen.

Having used the sticks for about 4 weeks now, I am struggling with my right grip/base connection.
It will sometimes partially lose connection - reverting to a basic state where the axes and triggers work but nothing else. The blue light goes white - and the red dot appears next to it (along with the red light on the black box appearing flashing).
It will sometimes lose connection entirely - going completely dead. All lights on the grip go dark, and the red light on the black box starts flashing.

Either issue is only resolved by physically disconnecting the grip from the base and reattaching.

Currently I have the z-rotation disabled on the grip in question as I use the pedals for rotation. The pedals are running through the right grip's black box (however this issue pre-dates the arrival of the pedals).

I have tried recalibrating, resetting, updating firmware for the black box and the grip.
The issue is hard to troubleshoot as it does not happen very often, but when it does it is obviously quite frustrating (to lose control entirely during a dogfight - only regained by busing out the hex key set).
I would guess this issue has occurred 10-15 times over the last 4 weeks with moderate to heavy use.

Looking for any help/advice that can be offered - thanks :D

Try to release the fastener, then press on the grip gently while retightening the fastener. You're aiming at having the grip making good contact with the base and the fastener holding it securely in place. Don't press hard on the grip, but tighten the fastener really good.

Yeah this is the process I do when I reattach the grip.
No matter what force (gentle/firm) I use it hasn't stopped the eventual loss of connection.

Try to tighten the fastener more.
Could you post some pics with the 3 pins on the bottom of the grip and with the 3 pads on the top of the base? Focused and good light would be really helpful.

I'll try to tighten the fastener more.
Photos below - let me know if you need better angles/lighting.
Cheers!

Could you push the pins with a screwdriver or a pen to make sure they're not stuck? They're on springs and should move up and down a little. From the last pic it seems one of them is stuck.

Just gave it a try - all 3 seem to bounce up and down a little.

Looking at the contact pads pic it seems that there's a hole only on one of them and there should be one in each. Try to reseat and when pressing on the grip to get into position make sure the force is applied directly above the base, not from the side.

Yeah I try to be as centred as possible while pushing down the grip.

Today the grip is losing connection when moving quickly, but then regains it when it's returned to centre or slowed.

I'm looking for where to fill out a service ticket but cannot find it on the AU website.
Do I just email support@vkb-sim.com.au ?

Cheers

Sending an email is fine, I'll speak with the rep too.
