Turned on computer today and Left hand joystick was broken

Left hand joystick completely does not work when I turned on my computer to play a game today. Ive tried multiple cables, multiple computers, shorting the pins, plugging and unplugging the cables themselves. nothing seems to work.

Press and hold F1 and F2 buttons on the base and connect to USB. Watch the LEDs on the base and when red is flashing release the buttons. Try a few times, as it might be tricky to capture the short flash.
If it's not working with F1 and F2, try with F1, F2, F3 - all together.

Hi fallout, Ive attempted F1 and F2 and the f1,f2,f3 option around 7 times each and I have no indication of any lights popping up whatsoever even after holding for around 30 sec each time
