I've recently noticed my pitch axis had a bit of roughness in it after using the Space-Soft cams with #30 springs on a tabletop set up for about a year. Upon disassembly I found a really curious issue, where it looks like the plating has actually worn off my cam.
I'm curious as to what may have caused this issue, since I never subjected the cam to excessive load (I used a very mild spring set).

Interesting! I have the same/slightly more severe issue on the cams. Space-S for me too with #30 and then #10 springs. I use the stick every day for 2/3hrs for my streams of star citizens.

There are 2 protective layers on the cams, chrome and copper. If they're coming off just clean the area with a cloth or gently use a very fine sandpaper. If the humidity is at normal levels in your room the cams should be absolutely fine without these 2 layers.

Thanks for the advice. I was concerned that continued use of these cams would result in the damaging of the roller that they ride after long term use. I sanded down the edges and reinstalled them, travel seems smooth with no issues whatsoever.
