First time Gladiator user: setup in MSFS 2020, but not working

Recently purchased the NXT. I've been able to connect with VKB config software and have calibrated. MSFS will recognize it and let me map inputs. But when I get a plane on the runway, nothing. I had a Thrustmaster that worked as well as could be expected (which is why I got the Gladiator). I'm likely making an obvious mistake but would appreciate a pointer so I can get in the air. Tia.

One more thing: what do you use on the Gladiator to control the throttle?

Make sure you're binding axes to analog and buttons to digital.
