So, it looks like my mother got me a Gladiator NXT Premium Right as a Christmas gift (I know this because she had it directly shipped to my house and it arrived today and I can read the customs declaration on the side). This is great, except that my wife was going to get me the SCG Gunfighter tabletop Premium Right - which she has not yet ordered.

My question is, is it possible to just have my wife order the Gunfighter with the SCG Premium-L grip and then I can just swap the grips with no additional parts?

Or do I need to get 2 of the SCG conversion kits, because the grips are "keyed" in some fashion for left and right handed SCG grips (which is what the language on https://vkbcontrollers.com/?product=scg ... ighter-scg seems to suggest).

So if you start from a right hand Gladiator NXT and aim to a GF+SCG right and Gladiator NXT with left SCG then you'd need a GF+SGC left hand and 2 conversion kits (right hand GNX to GF and left hand GF to GNX). But this would cost a bit more than excluding the unneeded tails, so write to sales@vkb-sim.pro explaining what you have and where you aim and they will create a custom invoice for your wife to pay.

I am indeed quite fortunate. My wife was going to get me a TECS too, but, well, you know. Hopefully, she will have a solid option for my birthday, which is in July..

You have my desired two stick setup (SCG(L)+NXT left, SCG(R)+GF right) correct. The idea would be that, eventually, I'd get the omnithrottle for the NXT and might even add a SEM or two to the NXT left side.

Thank you for the idea for the custom invoice. I had not thoughts of that. I will email them and get it sorted.

Epilogue:

She said that getting a custom invoice generated is too much work and I should just take care of it and put it on her card. So, I'm going to just going to get the SCG-L and GF base and the missing 2 tails, the idea being that way I'll have one of everything and can set it up however I like - and then I won't need the other tail if I ever replace the NXT base with a GF base.

Which begs the question... can I use an NXT base just as a base for SEM modules (no stick connected)?

Of course you can, the HID controller is inside the base, not the grip.

That's what I figured, but I didn't know if there was some eccentricity such as, for example, the base wouldn't boot without an attached grip.

To give a little perspective, I've been writing software for 20 years, and doing firmware for more than half of that. I don't trust anything without checking it out a bit first - and this includes software I wrote myself. Figured it was worth asking the question as I formulate my master plan for desk jockey domination.
