1 - Device model and version:
HID-compliant game controller
Product Name: VKB-Sim Gladiator NXT R
PRO version
T-Link supported
Firmware version: v2.010
VKB Device Config v0.91.96 (Njoyr32 Firmwar v 2.05.3)
The side stick button (button 20 on my left stick) is not showing as pressed on the right stick when it is pressed.
I have reset the stick to default using the VKB Device Config, and re-calibrated, that does not fix the problem.
Do you have any other trouble shooting suggestions?

You need to first check the button operation at the physical level. To do this, in the Profile-Buttons tab, activate the Poll checkbox and by pressing HAT C1 in all directions, check its response. Attach your profile to a * .zip file for verification.

Profile attached.
Set it to poll, and started pushing buttons.
Before "defaulting" the lights on the stick went out when plugged in, and no buttons on the stick register
After defaulting, the LED at the top of the stick turned blue, and all of the buttons on the stick registered except C1. (this is the basic NXT - C1 is a button)
While working with it reg 4, col 7 would occasionally light when C1 was NOT pressed, but eventually it stopped.

Ticket's been in a couple days, is there anything I should try, or just wait?

Answer a simple question - when you activate the Poll checkbox in the Profile-Buttons-Physical layers tab and press C1, what happens? Does the red square light up?

No.
When I press any other button, a red square lights up, but not C1.

You can disassemble the grip on the disconnected GNX and remove (the twist cable does not need to be disconnected) carefully the board, check the operation of the button with a tester. The photo shows two contacts of the button, which are closed when you press it. Our task is to find the source of the problem.
Did the button work before, right after the purchase?

I don't have a tester, but I can rig something up with a flashlight. 3V in series with a flashlight bulb won't hurt it, right?
And the button only recently stopped working. It was good for months before then.

Will not damage, you can check with a light bulb.

OK,
Well took it apart as directed, checked the switch and it was normally open/closed when the button was pushed. (so working normally)
Put the board back on and tried it (Plugged it into the computer, ran VKBconfig, set polling, pushed button): The red square flashed when C1 was pressed and polling was set.
Reassembled the stick and it stopped working...No red square when the button was pushed
Took it apart again, re-tested the switch: Good.
Re seated the board and tested (VFG Config, polling) and no red square

It is possible that contact on the long pins is lost when assembling the handle. It is necessary to carefully examine the scarf with the button and the small connecting one, where the twist cable is connected. Take a close-up photo of these boards from both sides, please.

It is worth taking a closer look at the highlighted points and the soldering points of the long pins.

They look attached, I don't see any marks. They don't move when poked.

So the pads are secure and there is no resistance between the raw pin and the pad for the upper two, and between the pin and the solder dot between the ones labeled VCC and GND on the small board.
Next step?
