Hello I removed the POV sticks because I wanted to use 2 trim hats so I have an additional 5 buttons because in VR I dont need the POV sticks. I tried to tamper around in the VKB config software but couldn't get it to work unfortunately. The buttons are neither recognized in the JoyTester/config software nor in games like DCS. Here's an image of the current setup I have on the stick:

but these buttons just wont work.

Do you have any tips how to do it?

Run VKBDevCfg, click on the Default button under the Tools tab, then calibrate like here.
Click on Test tab, then on Buttons/POVs tab and try your HAT switches, they should light up on the tester when actuated.

Please show screenshots of Global -Common and Profile - Buttons - Phys.layer tabs. And Global - External - External devices.
