T-Rudder - change spring tension without removing cam?

Hi,
I'm not great at mechanical things so I prefer to know exactly what I'm doing before I start. I've watched VKB's change cam & spring tension video and it seems simple enough process. I only want to change the spring tension post to high. Is it necessary or recommended to remove the cam to release the spring? If I can avoid it I will.
Some people have found the high tension too firm. Is it possible to use the Gunfighter Mk3 springs in the T-rudder. I assume not, but I thought I would ask.
Thanks
Matt
