Please compare your second picture with the one that I've posted earlier in this thread. When you'll see the differences you'll understand why is not working as desired.
If you want both ministicks (Master Mode and Gate Cont) to act in both modes (axes and buttons) please follow this resolve.
At this point, the center button of both ministicks is just swapping modes, from axes to buttons and back. If you want a center push button to assign in game, just program that button as TempoB - this would give you a short press on the center button a programmable button and a long press the mode swap axes/buttons. Make the changes as shown below for both Master Mode and Gate Cont; assign center push button to 41 and 42, so it won't interfere with other buttons.

I went ahead and did what you said and also looked at the thread link. I was able to get the center button to work on the master mode and the center on gate cont but I can't get the POV to be used as a hat.

now for some reason when I push up the master stick up it is 128 but the other directions are 1,2,3. Before they were around 128. How do I fix that?
Should I just do a restart and start from scratch?

Strongly suggest to hit the Default button, calibrate and start following the instructions step by step - everything you need is in there. But please pay attention - for example, in your picture you used button 22 for center push, which is wrong, as that button is already used; I specifically advised to use buttons 41 and 42 for the ministicks' center push buttons just 1 post above.

I thankfully saved profile before so I could start again and got the master mode stick working properly. The gate cont push works but can’t get it to map to a button when I move the stick around.
