Gladiator NXT Y-Axis Drift
Device Model + Version: Gladiator NXT
Firmware Version: v2.025
Number + Type of Springs: 2 springs, both GNX #20
Type of cams used: I don't know, whatever the stick ships with is what I'm using.
I have a really weird issue with the Y-Axis on my Gladiator NXT. When I push forward on the stick and then return to center, the value of the Y-Axis emitted by the stick is shifted forward, as if I were holding the stick slightly forward. The amount of drifter increases with each cycle of pushing forward and then returning to center. Eventually this results in the joystick basically emitting a Y-Axis value as if I were holding it fully forward, when in fact it is in the neutral position. The same issue occurs when pulling the stick back and returning to center. See the attached VKB Joy Tester screenshot for a visual example of what's going on.
Thanks for looking!

- In this screenshot I begin by pushing the stick fully forward and then returning to center repeatedly. As you can see, the value coming out of the stick while in center position drifts forward with each cycle. Later in the screenshot I begin pulling the stick back and returning to center repeatedly, which results in the value drifting backwards.

Re: Gladiator NXT Y-Axis Drift
Thanks for responding, fallout9. I should have mentioned, I have tried clicking Default and recalibrating (though I did it again just now to be sure). I've also tried updating the firmware (I was on v2.00 and updated to v2.025). In both cases the problem remains.

Re: Gladiator NXT Y-Axis Drift
The Y-axis sensor should be checked, there may be something between it and the magnet. Try to reconnect the sensor cable from both sides beforehand. There is nothing complicated in this operation. It is advisable to take a photo before each operation.

Re: Gladiator NXT Y-Axis Drift
Is the Y-axis sensor located at the red arrow I drew on the attached picture?
Does the yellow arrow point to the cable you're saying I should try to reconnect?

Re: Gladiator NXT Y-Axis Drift
I'm having a nearly identical issue with a joystick delivered less than a week ago. It flew fine for two or three days, but immediately started having these issues.
Here's what my joytester window looks like.
I have repeated all of these steps, including default settings and disassembly. Nothing seemed wrong with the sensor, and nothing was in the way. I think there may be some sort of defective sensor happening here, not keeping its zeroes.

Re: Gladiator NXT Y-Axis Drift
Just posted a support ticket.
Workaround: constantly hitting "Start Calibration" to reset my curves seems to fix the problem temporarily. Just annoying to do, and inefficient mid-game.

Re: Gladiator NXT Y-Axis Drift
After a discussion with support, I found out my magnet was loose on the Y axis.
Using the X axis magnet, I was able to pull out the loose magnet, glue the backside, and place it back in. Afterwards, all drift was gone. The joystick is back and good to go

Re: Gladiator NXT Y-Axis Drift
I've disassembled the stick (thanks for the video link) and discovered that the magnet on my Y-axis has detached from its mount point. Do you recommend a particular adhesive to re-attach it?

Re: Gladiator NXT Y-Axis Drift
After adhering the magnet with some Devcon Super Glue and letting it set for 24 hours my stick is back to normal. Thanks for all the help, fallout9 and Ron61!

Re: Gladiator NXT Y-Axis Drift
Thank you for the update and our apologies about the assembly oversight.
Re: Gladiator NXT Y-Axis Drift
Hi!
I just got the same problem with Y axis magnet after a week of use. Glued back, now everything is fine. Just tell you to know that this looks like a relatively common problem, at least with this batch of production.
