MCG Ultimate - rotz won’t calibrate (Gate Cont)

When I try to calibrate the gate cont stick in the side to side motion it doesn’t pick up? I have cleaned the connections with alcohol and tried the other mini stick module and neither work. I’m very confused. It registers very small motion if I move it a lot but nowhere near what it should.

Any help would be appreciated!

Post a screenshot with Profile/Axes please.
Have you tried to swap the 2 ministicks and see if that particular ministick acts the same in the other position?

I did swap the ministick because I figured maybe the one just has a hardware issue but both do the same thing.

Reset to default with the button in the configurator and recalibrate. You can then take a screenshot for yourself and compare it with the one provided.

I have to be honest im not sure what most of these parameters mean. Here is the new screenshot after default / calibration.

If it helps here are the two modules that I switched out with both not working on rotz. if you flick them they move a little.

The rules remain the same - firmware - reset to default - calibration.

Same result... I have some arduinos hooked up. Do you think that might cause a problem?

The module you've have installed in the posted picture in Gate Cont position is not a ministick, but a HAT switch - this is digital and has buttons and not axes. The module you have in Master Mode position is a ministick, which by default is in Relative mode (the axis stays in place when applied motion stops instead of returning to center, like a mouse); also by default, the Master Mode ministick starts in POV mode - to switch in axes mode you'll have to press on its center button for 1 sec.
It is very important to press the Default button (the big square button with a red dot on yellow stripes) before calibration. It is also necessary to press that button if you swap modules. If you swap from ministicks to HAT switches calibration is not required, but if you swap to ministick(s) you have to recalibrate after resetting to default. Please disconnect the Black Box from power when swapping modules.

I'm confused. The module in the gate cont has axis but you say it has buttons like a hat? I can feel that it has axis and the one in master mode has very distinctive clicks for buttons like a hat. I am quite certain the module in gate cont is a ministick and master mode has a hat. I do unplug the power when i change modules as well because i was worried a short circuit could happen although unlikely. I keep following the same procedure as well, that being bootloader then default button then start calibration then finish and press end calibration.

I am concerned it could be a hardware issue. When i got the stick the C clip on the twist axis was fully lose and popped off. I had to open up the stick bend the c clip back into shape and place back onto the twist module. The twist module works 100% now but I am worried something else i cannot see could be a problem given the build quality. The casing is also slightly gapped but I wasn't sure if this is something i should be concerned with (attached). The picture does not represent the current configuration just to see the gap. Overall the design is excellent but the build quality leaves something to be desired.

Was on my phone and couldn't see the image properly, sorry. The idea is to know the difference between ministicks and HAT switches and to not try to expect the axes to work when HAT switches are installed.

The only thing that is desired here is to properly assemble the grip after taking it apart - there should be no gap as in your picture.
