Using T-Rudders with DCS

Trying to setup my new T-rudder for DCS, but I can't seem to assign the T-rudder axis for rudder function (I don't care about toe brakes). Although the T-Rudder does appear in the list of devices, I can't program the axis (doesn't show up). Unfortunately it is hard to find info on the T-rudder software setup. Using VKBDevConf tools I (think) I calibrated it -- RotX went from 0-32767. T-Link software shows the pedals connected but both brake source and accu source register as not assigned. Status is deactivated. And I can't expand the T-Link window wide enough to see the aux screen -- it only shows half of the options. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You don't need anything else than proper calibration if you don't want toe brakes. And make sure you're binding it to an axis in game and not digital.

Got it. Realized that when assigning the rudder pedals the axis does not show up when simply moving the pedals. Had to actually choose an axis (JOY_ZX as I recall) in the pull-down menu for it to be recognized.

Final question (hopefully): That is, RotX went from 0 to 32767 -- full left to mid-point and not to the right at all. In-game my rudder is only moving left to center as well.

Am I missing something here?

Thanks again!

Yes, you're missing a proper calibration :) Do this:
- open VKBDevCfg, navigate to Tools, then to Test/Axes1;
- click the Start Clibr. button and press both left and right on your pedals;
- when done press End Calibr.
Now it should work good in game.

I realize I was not specific in my last question. I did this calibration procedure before, and did it again just to be sure. Sure enough, both times I ended up with result I mentioned before -- that is, the pedals only go from left to center. So when I depress the left pedal, the rudder goes to the far left. But when I then press the right pedal the rudder only goes to center and no further. :?:

Show a screenshot of the Profile-Axes tab from the configurator, it will explain the axis behavior better than any words.

Here it is. Thanks so much.

Read this topic.
You need to update the firmware for use with your configurator (at the very top of the window, in brackets, the recommended firmware version is indicated). And after that, reset the settings to default and calibrate. Show this screenshot again.
p.s.tip - take a screenshot either with the Alt + PRTSCN key combination (a screenshot of the active window will be taken, not the entire desktop), or using Windows "scissors" or "Sketch on a fragment of the screen".

Thanks for the late night response. Well, I screwed it up pretty good. Accidentally loaded the F-14 Gunfighter firmware instead of pedals (too many distractions going on, lost focus) and now VKBDevCfg shows it as such and I can't find how to reset it all. Help please (sorry)!

Don't need to reset it, just flash the correct firmware on it.

I keep trying, but keeps telling me it is the incorrect device signature and flash failed. Sorry to keep asking questions, but it is a bit confusing for me...

The BB reset worked and now it recognizes the T-Rudder. Found two possible firmware updates for the pedals: _BlackBox_TRudder_v2_02_5.vkb, and another file: Mk_XXI_v1_31.vkb. I tried the MK... file and got a message rejecting it, so I used the 2.025 which worked. However, the same calibration happens: the range of the pedals does not extend to the right side, only from left to center. Here is a screen shot.

Press Default button under Tools and calibrate again.

Okay, repeated calibrations and looks like rudder works. Thanks to all you guys for working so hard to help me out. Love VKB!
