Gladiator MK.II Twist Spring [RESOLVED]

Me again!
I discovered the cause of the problem I posted about the other day (http://forum.vkb-sim.pro/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=5012); the board the pickle button is mounted on was actually moving, meaning the button had nothing to hit. I can push it back in fine, and Eduard from FSC (EU store) advised me to secure it with some tape. I suppose it's all I can do until the Gladiator upgrade kit (hopefully) comes back into stock, allowing me to get some more (desperately needed) buttons.
To implement the fix, I opened the stick as usual, and for the first time, the twist spring became dislodged:

Does anyone know how to get the spring realigned? I've tried pushing and compressing in multiple positions but it never seems to fit properly, and it obviously needs to be in position for the twist axis to work. My attempts to keep the spring compressed with pliers while lowering it into the gap notwithstanding, any help would be highly appreciated.
