Gladiator NXT, X-Y axis clicking

Postby Intag » Tue Jan 26, 2021 17:36

I have used mine about 10-20 hours, and recently it has developed a clicking noise whenever I move the stick, most noticeably when I pull on it. I opened up the base and found an excess of plastic/glue under my Y axis spring, I removed some of it but this did not change anything.

Could be the grease settling in. Are you sure though the stick is sitting properly on the base? Press on it and tighten the screws underneath. Watch for the cable so it won't get pulled out/caught.

Tried leaving the screws tight, tried tightening them halfway, pushed the stick in as much as I could, no joy

Check the grey dust cover at the base of the stick, is it moving freely? Open up the base plate and see if you can identify the source of noise.

Yes, there's a little bit of space for me to move the stick where the dust cover does not move with it, that's normal right?
I opened up and thought it was a bit of plastic/glue stuck under the Y axis spring, or the Y axis spring itself, but I replaced the Y axis spring and removed a little bit of the plastic and nothing changed. The sound comes from near the spring but the "feedback" of pulling the stick is around the bottom of the stick

So it's not just the noise, it's like you can feel the stick skipping then?

If I move the stick slowly, the noise and "detent" feeling on the stick are not there, but if I move it quickly the feedback is apparent

Most probably grease. Run with it for a while, see how it goes.

Old thread, but the problem has started annoying me enough to look into it again, the problem is definitely with the dust cover (that's what the grey thing is above the screws for the stick?), whenever the stick contacts the dust cover, the click happens and the weird feedback.

Sorry to necro this thread but I'm having the exact same problem. You ever figure out a solution?

You could take the grip out and try to put a layer of electrical tape around the grip tail (where it makes contact with the dust cover).
If you'll decide to go for this mod be careful when removing the grip and when installing it back so you won't damage the wire. Recalibrate after reassembling.

I will give it a shot. Thanks for the suggestion.
