New Gunfighter making creaking and clunking noises

Postby T0nnage » Tue Nov 17, 2020 14:24

My new gunfighter (arrived yesterday) is making creaking and clunking noises.

It does this moving in both axis but I think might be worse left-right.
Mostly, but not always, I get it near the movement extremities and if making a fast movement.

The exact spec is: Gunfighter with MCG Pro and 200mm extension, The top has been removed as it's mounted to the underside of a VKB UCM Stronghold.

It made the noise out of the box. I've replaced the springs to be 50+20s and this has not affected the noise, so I don't think it's to do with the springs.
Edit: I also get the noise if I hold the bottom of the extension, so I think it's something in the base rather than the grip.

I assume this noise is not normal so is anyone able to advise on what it is likely to be/how to stop it?

Thanks!

Edit 2: Actually, I think i get it mostly when I cross the centre of an axis, particularly if the other axis is near maximum deflection. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to happen in a consistent spot and only happens with movement so I'm struggling to pin down the exact cause.
It somewhat sounds like something is deflecting/pressure is is being released but with a creaking noise. It may just be normal cam noise - are they usually noisy?

You'll have to open it up, remove the springs and check if the cams are tightened up properly. If it's not from there check the other screws and bolts securing the gimbal to the top plate and the case.
Here's a video to help in the process.

Brilliant!

That was it. It's lovely and quiet now and feels smoother too :-)

Thank you for your help!
