You can dig it out with screw driver or hex key. No need big force.

Thanks, I just came back to ask, because they sent me the pcb instead of the whole assembly.

I finally got a chance to attempt this replacement. How do I disassemble the white plug?

Take the needle and carefully lifting the latch, pull the wire out of the connector. Take a photo for yourself beforehand, so as not to confuse the sequence of wires during assembly.

I'm having the exact same problem, just received my order a couple of days ago, and already having this problem. I've opened a support ticket, but I was wondering if maybe just adding some dielectric grease to the connections might help? Anything else I can do so I can use the stick in the meantime while waiting on support?

Just wipe the 3 contact pads on the base and extension and inspect the 3 contact pins on the grip and extension. Press on the extension a bit, down the base, while tightening the fastener, then press gently on the grip while tightening the fastener.

Thanks for the quick reply, when disassembling it I found that one of the pins in the little white connector didn't look to be fully seated. I was able to take a small needle nose pliers and push it in until I felt it click. Have used it now for a couple of hours without incidence, hopefully that was all there was to it.

Yeah some connectivity thing is probably going to be the only problem you'll find with these sticks moving forward. The electronics are solid and you can rule out a pot flaking out as they don't exist. I don't know how many times I'd had to repair a wiring or pot issue on my CH and Saitek gear over the years. Until somebody comes out with a magical way of connecting the moving parts to the PCB, little wires are gonna have to do. The wires have to be small so they can move but that makes them kinda fragile. Because of the small wires the connectors have to be tiny also so same rules apply there. The good news is this company actually encourages you to get inside and see what the problem is so they can help you can get back up and running. A very rare thing these days. Glad you got it sorted out.

This is happening again after replacing the pcb in December (I am the OP). Last night I had to loosen the extension from the base (in flight) multiple times in the dark to get it working (somewhat) again. Flying along, get a bad guy in my sights, and alas, none of my buttons work. The other night it stopped working while I was zoomed in and so I was stuck zoomed in... can't fly like that. But usually, it just doesn't work. I've never had this much trouble with the cheaper sticks I've owned. It's almost to the point where I can't get it to work at all. Every day it seems to get worse. Last night I had to take it apart in flight (in the dark) about 5 times. In between the disassembly's I was putting up with controls that worked about 50% of the time. Is there another solution besides replacing the pcb every 4 months? I assume vkb doesn't want to send me a lifetime supply.
