MK IV Pedals and Star Wars Squadrons

I am trying to get my new set of MK IV pedals to work with Star Wars: Squadrons, but have so far been unsuccessful. The game does not recognize the pedals (they work in other games for me), and the information I’ve found says that mapping all of your inputs into one device with joystick gremlin & vJoy should work.
So far, I have been unable to map the pedals and was hoping someone would recognize my error (x52 is mapping correctly). In joystick gremlin the pedals list that they support 3 axis (x,y, & z rotation), and two buttons. If I view the current inputs, I can see that moving the pedals adjust the X rotation x up and down, the other ones show no movement. I’m not sure if 5 inputs should be expected, but the x rotation axis seems to be working.
If I turn the input repeater on, I can see that axis 4 is registering every time I press a pedal. With the gremlin configuration I have tried mapping (remap) the X Rotation to different vJoy axis, but I could never get the vJoy axis to show the rudder movement. If I map from an x52 axis, this moves the vJoy axis as expected.
I also tried to create a split axis in joystick gremlin, assigning the x rotation to one side (or even both). This failed to register any movement in the configured vjoy axis as well.
Any advice on what to try next?
