Faulty RESET hat on MCG Pro

Postby mrj666 » Fri Sep 04, 2020 12:40

I just received my Gunfighter Mk3 with MCG Pro twist grip. It seems like the RESET (thumb) hat is faulty.
With the default profile, when moving the hat backward it triggers button input #21 (reg 3 line 5) instead of input #17 (reg 3 line 1). Pushing the hat also triggers input #21.
All other buttons and axis work as expected.

I presume this is a hardware issue, and not a firmware bug?
I'm running firmware v1.99A on the blackbox MK2 (black)

In the configurator, in the Profils-Buttons-Physical layers tab, activate the Poll checkbox to check the physical operation of the buttons. Check it out - different lines (cells) should be triggered when HAT deviates and is pressed. If so, then you need to check the layout at the Logical level. In default, it should look like this:

The button shows incorrectly on the physical view.
The attached image is what shows when pulling the RESET hat backward.

My logical layer shows ref 3 line 1 to 5 set as per your image, and I have not changed any logical mappings from default.

When you select a line (cell), a hint window appears with a detailed description of the selected button. Do you match the clicks with it and the attached picture?

The descriptions match what is in that picture. But #17 never fires, instead I get #21 when pulling the hat backward (I also get #21 when pushing it).

Try the extreme software, and the configurator and firmware from here.

If all else fails, write to the seller or to warranty@vkb-sim.pro a request to replace this HAT.

I've updated to firmware v1.99F and I still get the same thing.
I'll email them, and get a replacement.

Thanks for your help

The latest firmware has to get matched with the latest configurator. Have you downloaded that too? Also, it's important to press the Default button immediately after the flashing and just before calibration, could you confirm this has been done properly?

Yep, I've got configurator v0.91.46, and defaulted it after updating.

Just an update on my issue.
After getting in touch with warranty support, they sent out a replacement hat switch and I installed it today. Happy to report it has resolved the issue.
