Mine has done the same and like you I reflashed the firmware. It solved the problem but resulted in losing my button settings and I can't get them back working again. Don't know if it's related to the black box winking out or not.
I was up all night last night trying to find a way of resetting them with no luck. I have the Gunfighter Pro MkII WWII Combat Edition which only has 7 buttons counting the pinkie. For the life of me I can not get the pinkie to work as a shift and give me another function.
Instructions located elsewhere on this forum tout all the options, bells and whistles and wander all over the map. What should be a simple plug and play device considering the price is turning into a nightmare.
I'll gladly pay $50 to anyone who can map these buttons for me.

Hi again Gordon :)

I've made a profile for you for the GunFighter base + KG12 grip; pinkie button is shift and by pressing it you're getting a new set of buttons for the rest of 6 buttons on the grip. But please, before loading it up follow the guide to get properly flashed: https://youtu.be/8Ht8yMsdlCQ. After you finish with the guide go to the Action tab, press Load and locate the profile I've attached (unzip it first). After loading the profile you have to re-calibrate your device again.
Let me know if there's anything else left that would keep you from enjoying your device :)

Redcoat - could you please post some screenshots with Test/External device and Global/External/External devices?

Fallout9

I've done as you instructed and it's not even close to working properly.
In the config test for buttons I press the trigger and #1 lights up. I press the pinkie and #3 lights up. I hold the pinkie and press the trigger and #1 and #3 light up.

Either go to Settings and tick the Set after load box, or load again the profile I've made and hit the big square Set button in the same Action tab as the Load command.
FYI - now the pinkie button is 'invisible' so it won't show on the tester when you click it. But it'll act as Shift, changing, for example, the trigger from button 1 to button 14.

I'm beginning to think I have a faulty joystick.
Here's what it's doing now. I press the trigger and #1 lights up. I hold the pinkie and press trigger #14 lights up. Then I press the trigger and #14 lights up. Hold the pinkie and press trigger #1 lights up.
The functions are shifting back and forth with each use making it impossible to key map in game.
I appreciate your time and patience but this isn't getting me anywhere. I've owned this stick since July and haven't gotten it to do as advertised yet.

Do not HOLD the pinkie! Press it once and release it to activate the shift. Press it again and release it to deactivate the shift.
If you want to HOLD the pinkie go to Physical buttons chart, click on the Blue button programmed as Shift, pull the roll down menu and set it as Momentary instead of Alternate. Don’t forget to hit Set at the end.

KG12 grip settings.

Postby Ron61 » Sat Apr 25, 2020 12:01

Moved messages from another topic so that there is no confusion.
I recommend first to make sure that the grip is connected properly and the buttons work, see here.

We may be getting close to a solution.
In the config button test they light up according to plan with Shift button as momentary. However, when I map them in game (IL2) the shifted buttons register as they should but do nothing when pressed in game. I do want to hold the pinkie to activate the second function and switch back to the original function with pinkie released.
Don't I need to cross reference the shifted buttons to the corresponding buttons? I don't understand the logic and the names of the options don't indicate what they actually do. Shouldn't the shifted buttons be ButtonS?

Attach your configuration file so that you can use it with yourself.

The config file I'm using is from fallout9 posted above.
I don't understand "so I can use it for myself".

You need to set up the little finger button from Alternate to Momentary. Buttons can be configured differently without using ButtonX.

As before, the shifted buttons do nothing in the game. The config test indicates they are functioning properly however.
Please explain what you mean "Buttons can be configured differently without using ButtonX". Which buttons are you referring to and how should they be configured? The lower part of your second image is cut off.

Watch this video. To call the Virtual layer window, double-click the left mouse button on a white field.

I really appreciate you taking the time to make the video but I am sad to say I still do not get the shifted buttons to function in game. They appear to work in the config test and IL2 key mapping shows a unique button being assigned but in game I draw a blank. The shifted keys are dead.
Am I the only person having this problem with a Gunfighter Pro MkII WWII Combat Edition joystick? I can't imagine the other owners are satisfied with only 7 buttons. It was a major pain in the arse to get this joystick and I was so happy to receive it but honestly, it has been a friggin nightmare ever since.
Here's a screen of the Logical Layer if that helps.

Strange, I went into the game and everything is assigned.
Most likely the problems are not in GF (and KG12), but in the game itself or JoyToKey.
Unplug the rest of the joysticks and try with one GF.
