hi,

i want to change the joystick so it needs more force to move it. do i just have the change the springs or do i also need to change the cams?

also: what springs and cams come preinstalled with the mk3 base?

any recommendations on springs/cams for games like elite: dangerous?

Default it should be S-Avia with #20 springs. But check your cams package - there are S-Avia, H-Avia, S-Space and H-Space - whatever is missing from your bag it means it's installed on your base.
Springs and cams, no matter the game, are a very personal preference. From what I read and hear planes pilots prefer hard springs (even harder if they use extensions) and space pilots prefer softer springs.
I would recommend you, for Elite: Dangerous, to change to S-Space cams and #30 springs. Don't forget to take pictures before taking the cams off so you'd know the order of the washers and spring washers as the order might differ from device to device.
