T-Rudders Mk. IV axis movement not being detected

Very often I am finding that my brand new T-Rudders (I received them today) lose the ability to report the position of the rudder axis. In other words, when I push the pedals, I see no change in the Test screen of VKB Device Config nor in VKB Joy Tester. I have to reset the device to default settings and the axis starts functioning again immediately.
I am running firmware 1.986 and these are Mk. IV Rudder Pedals that are brand new. By the way, I love the product and think that the virtual toe brakes function works well. How could I set up my MCG Pro with Twist to enable to virtual toe brakes without needing to run T-Link in the background?
I tried downloading the configuration file for this purpose which is on the VKBControllers website, but that file is for a K-12 stick.
