GF Mk1 X-axis Spiking

Postby heloguy » Sat Dec 07, 2019 16:24

I've tried multiple re-calibrations, and just finished re-flashing to 1.97.7 firmware on my GF Mk1 with MCG-Pro. The x-axis has really bad spiking as can be seen in the picture. I've run out of ideas on what might be wrong.

I was having similar issues with my GF MkI. I finally accessed the gimbal, and disconnected the wire to the sensor circuit board for the x-axis (a tiny board with two tiny screws). I then unscrewed the x-axis board and wiped down the business side of the board and the end of the x-axis shaft, reassembled, and it fixed the problem. I wonder if debris or dust got in between the sensor and the shaft.

More often than not, especially on these earlier models, the issue comes from the cable connector to one of the PCBs working its way loose. As you move the gimbal it sends a glitchy signal at a certain point and there you have the spiking. Usually just pulling the connector off and re-seating it cures the problem.
