P3DV4

Postby Zentiger » Thu Nov 21, 2019 7:37

I am trying to set up my just purchased Gladiator to P3D and having trouble. I can't get the hat switch to work, I have difficulty braking, etc...

Is there a tutorial or anything in the Forum? Thank you for any assistance.

Spraseeba !

Thanks for the help. I have looked at the document you attached. I just purchased this joystick- not imagining I needed to become a computer hacker/ programmer to use it...

I tried to follow the instructions. First the Zboot was not recognized (the joystick was recognized). Then there were errors trying to recognize the data file... I am not inclined to fool with this too much longer.

Do I also have to upgrade the springs, etc in the mechanism? I bought a Gladiator Pro/ Mark 2 . Version 1.85B. Does it need updating?

I won't send this back because it is a nice unit.... but I am disappointed since I have modest computer skills.

I appreciate any help.

If you recently purchased the device from one of VKB’s official stores then it’s a Gladiator MKII and not a Gladiator Pro (these units haven’t been on sale for a while now). In this case, to answer your question -no, there’s no need to change springs or cams. Also, you’re trying to flash the wrong firmware (firmware is different for Gladiator vs Gladiator Pro) so that’s why you’re getting all those errors.
Here’s a step by step guide for getting your stick ready for flight: https://youtu.be/8Ht8yMsdlCQ
The guide has been made for an older version of the software/firmware, so don’t worry if you’ll see other versions in the links provided, just make sure you’re following exactly the steps.

I will add - do not click Flash It !, although the green light is on. Until instead of Device not ready - detected ok + green - firmware is not possible.

Thank you very much. I will try this.

It is a nice joystick. If I continue to have problems I will also ask someone who knows computers to help me at home.

I purchased via X-Plane's USA store. The Box reads, Gladiator Mark II. ( When I tried the configuration software it did register as Mark II v1.85B.

You still have that Device not ready message, there's something wrong. Try this: open VKBDevCfg, go to Tools, press the Default button and after the reset hit the Bootloader and load the firmware.
If it still doesn't work, delete all the files and start from beginning. Do not alter zconfig file until the end.

Well....sorry to say I have not been able to pan views with the Hat Switch on P3D. The hat switch works fine with IL2, XPlane, and DCS.....No success with P3D. I see there is new firmware updates for the Gladiator joy stick?Should I update? Could this help get the hat switch to work?

Well... I have given up. I cannot get the hat switch for the Gladiator Mark2 joystick to work with P3Dv4. I could get the suggestions provided to work either. It is not very convenient to use for someone like me who is not very proficient with computer programming. So- I purchased a Thrustmaster to use with P3D. Works fine- no more hours spent.

I like the joystick and really do hope I can upgrade the joystick, Please see the attached files for a look- at what I am dealing with what I am working with. I would like some help. I saw that the firmware has been upgraded but can't seem to upgrade mine. I don't know how to upgrade it.

Very frustrating. Boshemoi!

You have some kind of program, the software does not allow to flash. You need to temporarily close them (Gigabyte Aorus, software for the mouse, keyboard). Or try flashing on another machine, a laptop.

I am sorry. I have no idea what you mean. Is this advice from the VKB technical team? Gigobyte Aorus?
