New Gladiator w/SCG Upgrade Issues

Postby CMDR_Harada » Wed Oct 16, 2019 19:08

Problem #1 : Received new joystick, and the device cannot be seen by firmware updater. It says it's offline. Have tried on three different computers, multiple USB ports ( 2.0 and 3.0 ), disabling most services. I do not run thrustmaster software or Aurus. The Configurator sees the joystick just fine.. This occurs with both the new handle or the original handle.

Problem #2 : With the new handle on, Joystick tester shows that none of the buttons on handle are recognized, nor is rudder. All buttons and throttle on base work fine, as does pitch and yaw. Old handle will show rudder and buttons if I put it back on. I believe it needs the firmware update to see the new handle properly ?

Any help would be appreciated.

Show a screenshot from the configurator. It is not clear what firmware and grip it is.
When changing the handle, you need to change the firmware.

I managed to get the firmware loaded, and it sees the rudder and many of the buttons.

It took :
1: clean reboot of my computer, open nothing except the configurator. Opening anything else, like Chrome, would cause this to fail.
2: Plug in the joystick
3: Open configurator, highlight joystick at top, and choose DEFAULT joystick button.
4: Choose Bootloader button.
Choose firmware, and flash

I don't know why, but if I chose the flashing utility directly WITHOUT defaulting and using the config utility, it would fail to see the joystick as online. Or maybe I got lucky.

The Stick seems to function great... Except that two buttons seem to be stuck "On" when using the button tester utility.

Buttons 18 and 19 on the upper left hat ( labeled A1 ) are stuck on, and the only action I get out of the hat is button "20" when I press the hat.

Any suggestions ?

Is that the ministick or you've replaced it with a hat?

It's not a ministick, it's a 4-way hat.

It's the 4-way in the upper left.

Also, according to the Button Tester util, every time I press the red button just below, the 18 and 19 buttons cycle up/down.

Check your Buttons/ Physical Layer and see what's assigned for those buttons.

Device Config Util shows "No Function" on Physical and "Auto" on Logical for all buttons.

Using the Button tester, and pushing the red button "3", I get this, randomly.. sometimes more, sometimes less.

That doesn't say much, could you post screenshots with the Global/External tab and Physical Layer?

I think something went wrong when you flashed the device. Start from beginning following this guide https://youtu.be/8Ht8yMsdlCQ, make sure you're following all the steps and you're getting the latest firmware and software.

Not firmware issue.

Experimenting tonight. If I very gently press the red button ( just under the hat ), the hat will act perfectly normal. When I say gently, I mean very slight. Not enough to to have the button tester show the button as engaged, or to hear it 'click'. All 4 positions, and the central "button press" work fine on that hat, but only if I am very gently applying pressure to the red button. Without pressure on the red button, both hat positions ( 18 and 19 ) stay lit, and the other positions randomly work.

This seems to me to be a contact issue of some type inside the handle. Either with the hat switches, or on the PCB.

It'd take you 5 minutes to watch the video and do things right.
