there should be a text line at the top of the screen with a name for a detected grip and a base. Make sure that is highlighted before you attempt to hit the bootloader button.

in that case the user has two different sticks but if you have one line at the top and it is not highlighted, then the software doesn't know what you are trying to flash firmware to.
