Gladiator Pro MkII + MCG (non-pro) possibly firmware bug (Solved - # of Tempo limit was 16)

Postby Sideslip » Wed Jul 11, 2018 23:58

The default setting of the MCG works just fine as intended, but I want to set most of the buttons to be "tempo2", to allow an almost doubling of available buttons. On the base, everything is fine with it returning buttons #1 to #14 with short press and #15 to #28 as long press. The stick however, is bugged with both "tempo1" and "tempo2" settings. I set all buttons other than the two triggers to tempo2, yet the only buttons that respond properly are the middle switch up and down.

Reset #61 (Reg#8 Line5) returns 16 on press (held or not) and 15 on release, and remains stuck on 15 thereafter.
AP Off #55 (Reg#7 Line7) returns no values
Lvling #54 (Reg#7 Line6) returns a brief flash of 15, then no longer works
Gun #56 (Reg#7 Line8) returns no values
Gate Cont Push #62 (Reg#8 Line6) returns no values
#41 and #42 (Reg#6 Line1/2) work as intended
DC Forward and DC Backward #49 and #50 (Reg#7 Line 1/2) return no values
Grip Botton... button #48 (Reg#6 Line8) only returns 15 on release and remains stuck on 15

Triggers and top hat were not tested with tempo.
All buttons behave normally when set to "button" rather than "tempo" 1 or 2.

I am using Device Config v0.87.05 and firmware v1.94B
I want to attach the config file but it won't let me, saying invalid file extension. Instead I uploaded it to google drive, not sure if you can download it from there. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1trZbiJVtC7YQAn-LC--pa5PqYUzbmbJo/view?usp=sharing

Max quantity of TEMPO function in current software - 16.

I will increase this value to 24, in and we will try to look at the result, it interesting. OK?

PS
if you need more - say.

Oh I didn't know there was a limit, maybe that's it. I think with 24 it should be plenty. I just wanted all the buttons to be the same for simplicity sake so I don't have to worry about changing it for specific aircraft or games. With 24 that will cover the entire base and all the MCG buttons except triggers. That will give me at least 55 possible buttons on my right side, I can't complain about that!

Thanks for the quick response!

Just tried it out and it works perfectly... well almost. I didn't realize that the "uStick Switch" "switch by Tempo" also counted towards that limit, so I had set 25 tempos and instead of the master mode doing what it should it lit up button #15 and stayed on. I really doubt I will bind anything to "Eject" other than eject, so I just changed that a normal button and I have a total of 54 buttons... which is plenty. Works perfectly now.

Thanks again.

You need 25 or more? This is not a problem, if it is really necessary.
It is simply impossible to establish in advance the infinity of resources.

I changed two buttons to the Generator type (for eject and a countermeasures button), so I've got my stick and base set up exactly how I want it now using 24 "Tempos". Maybe somebody else will want to use 25 or more (maybe if somebody does what I did but with the MCG-Pro), but I am very happy with 24. I've got enough buttons that I literally don't have anything else I want to bind to the stick or base, at least on the SU-25T.

There are only 27 physical layer buttons on the Gladiator + MCG combo, so a 27 tempo limit would allow literally every button to be doubled. I think the Pro would bring that to 37 maybe? But at over 50 buttons we are already starting to get a little crazy

This is what I have settled on:

OK, I think 32 TEMPOs ought to be enough for anybody :)
