Gladiator Mk2 (non pro) "creaky plastik" noise

Postby discophil » Sun Jan 21, 2018 2:03

Hi,

about a month ago I purchased a Gladiator Mk 2. Now, after about 20 hours of use it started to make some "creaky plastic" noise when pulling back on the stick on the pitch axis. It was very minor at first but it seems to get worse the more I use it. Interestingly it only ocurs when pulling back the stick in a straight line. In all other directions it works fine. It feels like something is moving inside the gimbal just a bit and creates this noise. I did open the base to check if there is a screw or something that got loose but Im unable to figure it out.

Any suggestions?

I wrote an E-Mail to Eduard from VKB FSC Europe on 12.01.2018 and asked for advice about this issue. I did not receive any response as of yet.

I think I had the same issue, if I understand "creaky plastic noise" correctly. My Gladiator was dead silent at the beginning, but after several weeks it started to make a silent "click" sound when I pushed stick to the left. Then the sound became louder and louder. And then I had enough and removed the bottom plate to try to figure out what's going on.

I saw something like this:

I moved the stick several times and found a piece of plastic that should definitely not be in this place. It looked like a superfluous material which had not been removed after forming the plastic part of the mechanism. It was located in this place:

After removing, it looked like this:

To summarize: 3 minutes with screwdriver, 2 minutes with small knife and my joystick is dead silent again. 8)

Hope it would be helpful, maybe somebody's case would be similar.
