Blinking Red light, No buttons

Hello,
Mk3 MCG pro - v2.19.9 - windows

I have a Mk3 MCG Pro that I've had for awhile. Recently I noticed the buttons occasionally stop working I did some basic trouble shooting and noticed if I just unplugged the black box and plugged it back in all functions would come back. over the last few days it happened more and more and now it's not responding at all. I still have full axis control on the base but the grip isn't functioning at all. I do run a small extender, I took it apart, cleaned all contacts. still no response.

In VKB Dev Config under external devices the grip shows up, but shows a 100% communication Error.

Anyone have any other troubleshooting ideas? Did the grip just kick the can? is this a software issue? I would normally just assume hardware, but the times I unplugged and replugged it in fixing it makes me think otherwise.
Any help would be appreciated.

Looks like there's an issue with connecting the grip to extension to base. Release the extension and grip, then tighten the 2 fasteners while pressing down the grip/extension for better contact; release when done. Don't use a lot of force.
