Missed button presses using boolean

Tried setting up booleans to get TEMPO on hat buttons during SHIFT1 ALTERNATE. As I add more and more booleans for each hat button, in the test tab, the initial button presses are not registering every time, making fast presses impossible.
It seems to need a slight hold (of course, less than the time of the hold for the second TEMPO hold). The second TEMPO hold works because of the timer it seems.
Does boolean really cause that much overhead in the processing or whatever? I don't remember having this problem before the boolean tab when we used JMP instead.
Maybe someone knows a better way to do this. Cheers!
