I recently just reinstalled the 2 analog hats on my MCE Ultimate and Im having a bit of an issue. According to the software tutorial below, by default these should both be axes. The hat switch is by default a hat switch not an axis; I am trying to make it an axis and a push button. Ive had the hat switch and the 5 way button installed since day 1 and havent touched the software since today, so Im a bit lost as to why these arent their default as said they should be. BTW, I did hit the default button and set, restarted the joystick and didnt work. Trying to get the analog hat to an axis only made 1 axis functional. I am so lost...any help appreciated!

MCE ultimate setting up from scratch, questions and issue

Re: MCE ultimate setting up from scratch, questions and issue
And just to tell you where I am at right now, in profile/POV I have #1 as LoRes 4w 2D @ 3x4y, and I have #2 as LoRes 4w POV 2D @ 6x5y. #3 and 4 are set discrete. In Buttons/POV, I see POV1 red and it functions as a hat switch, not as an axis, and POV2 shows up blue, no hat switch but functions as an axis. Button 32 funcitions when I press it, so I think that one is set up fine...but would like that to switch over to a 4 way hat when I press the button if thats possible.
Edit: getting somewhere. I now have the trim stick working as intended; the gate cont still acts like an XY axis with no push button. Currently have it at uSSw uStick Switch, POV N2, switch by button. Tried button alt and pov mode on start, but still no POV on this stick. Button press only registers on the profile/ physical layer / Reg#5 Line 1 line, not in the buttons/test section. No hat functionality, just axes. Just tried it in discrete, its exactly the same.

Re: MCE ultimate setting up from scratch, questions and issue
Check out this guide about making both ministicks to act the same: POV on start, then axes on long press of center push button and short press available for binding. It's a bit different, for MCG Pro, but the fundamentals are exactly the same. Give it a try and if you get stuck just say so.
Strongly recommended to reset to default before starting this.

Re: MCE ultimate setting up from scratch, questions and issue
I actually tried that before I posted; matter of fact I was reading it while I was editing these posts and I still cant get my gate cont to work as hat presses. You can see my attached image of the stick Im trying to edit. All Im getting out of it are XY axes. Ill read through it again though to see if I missed something.
Edit - switching to TempoB didnt help. The button gradually lights up on the button test but only briefly....ok think I got it now.

Re: MCE ultimate setting up from scratch, questions and issue
The VC# is wrong on your blue ministick. Also, if you want a programmable short press on the center button you'll have to set it up as TempoB, not ButtonAlt.
Re: MCE ultimate setting up from scratch, questions and issue
I swapped it to #1VC and have it in TempoB. Only problem now is that I have to press this button a couple of times for it to register the switch, but it works now. Meh, I can make it work from here, but wish it wasnt this off putting...I wanted it to act like the first hat switch so I set it up like the first hat switch. Why is this different?

Re: MCE ultimate setting up from scratch, questions and issue
Don't quite understand what you're saying... what do you mean you have to press couple of times? There should be a button on short press and the swap from POV to axes and back on a long press. I'm also sure you know perfectly well what you mean by 'the first hat switch', but I don't
Using the labels from their sides would help.

Re: MCE ultimate setting up from scratch, questions and issue
1st hat switch is the trim hat on top (master mode); the Gate CONT is the one Im having issues with still...seems like I have to hold that button down for a bit in order for it to register, thats all. Is there a way to make it a short press instead of a long press? I keep forgetting there are labels on this...

Re: MCE ultimate setting up from scratch, questions and issue
There are several options for the center push button of the ministicks, but these 3 are the most useful:
1. Button Alt: in this case a short click on the center push button of any of the ministick would swap from POV mode to axes mode and back; no long press for this option;
2. Tempo: a long press on the center push button would make the switch from POV to axes and back; no short press for this option;
3. TempoB: a short press on the center push button of the ministick would be a regular button; a long press would make the switch between POV and axes and back.

Re: MCE ultimate setting up from scratch, questions and issue
For some reason or other, button alt wasnt working at all last night. Loading into DCS and remapping a bunch of stuff seems to have woke up that function somehow, but I got it working again.
Anyways, thanks for the help~
