Check the pins with a pen or something to see if the springs still works. Clean up the base pads with a bit of alcohol.
Navigate to Test/ExternalDevices, click on your grip avatar and check the new window - let the green line fill up traverse the window, take screenshot, post it. Start moving the grip in all directions, see if the are any changes in the green line. If the are blocks popping up post that screenshot too.

The pins of the grip can be move slightly backwards. Used alcohol to clean the 3 contacts on top of the extension.

The three screenshots show:

1. No input just before first window is full with a like (tiny spike)
2. No input continuosly after window if full and initial spike is gone
3. When moving stick X and Y

Remove the extension and repeat the test, grip and base only.

on those contacts was a little bit of dirt - other than extension pads. Removed with alcohol

Here are two screenshots of moving without extension

Check the contact pins on the extension too and clean the pads. Install the extension on the base and press gently on it while tightening the fastener - tighten it really good. Install the grip on the extension and press gently on the grip while tightening the fastener - tighten it really good.
Test again.

All cleaned and assembled toghter and moving together:

Looking good! :) Going to test if spiking and loss of button authority is gone.

Some mechanical stuff before I ll test:

when moving from right to left there's some friction and a crackling sound when almost complete left. Should I use other springs with my extension?
There's no cracking when going from mid to left but even pausing in the mid creates a crack left when I have been right before. So there's some kind of "load".

and another thing I always had:
maximum physical way of stick is more than I can calibrate. Maybe it's intentional this way - at least with an extension. Maybe it's because I use very weak spring (cant remember - would need to open)

If there are only short green blocks buttons and the rest of grip controls should work fine.
About the noises coming from inside the base, you should open up and check what's happening in there. If a screw is loose for a long time there could be some permanent damage. See this guide to understand what you're aiming at when replacing cams and springs.

Dang, I thought I had replied already! Thanks for all the help. The inputs seem to work perfectly correct and just the day after I told you I get noises from inside the stick and your tipp I ad no more noises + strange friction anymore on the X/Y-Axis. So Im really happy now! Thanks again for the competent and enduring help.
BTW: Having only weak springs inside while sporting a long extension is OK for the Gunfighter III ? I dont want to wear it down.

Good to hear, thanks for the update! Weak springs and extension combo works if you can live with imperfect centering.

The problem is here again and calibration doenst seem to fix it. So disassemble again? Am I missing something?

Yes, take both grip and extension off. Install the extension on the base and press on the extension gently while tightening the fastener, then mount the grip on the extension and again press on it while tightening. They don't need a lot of pressure, just as much as the pins inside the grip and extensions would make good contact with the pads on the base and extension. The fasteners should get really tight.

I made it working again by unplugging extension from base, using a cotton stick on the contacts and calibrating the stick. Just worried to do it so often. Especially as this could wear of parts of the stick. But your point of applying a certain amount of pressure on the parts while tightening is something I didn’t do so far but it sounds sensible! Thank you!

You should tighten or check if the fastener is still properly tightened weekly I'd say, especially if you're a nervous pilot, pulling at the stick often.
