Hi all
I have responded in a few other threads from folks who've had the same issue. I am creating this thread since I have a theory that may be useful (or not if it is wrong)
I bought 3 grips total and 3 gimbal units
Call these gimbal A,B and C
Here is the sequence of events
Gimbal A equipped as NXT R
Gimbal B equipped as NXT L
During use, Gimbal A began to malfunction before going dark.
Gimbal B worked fine.
Right hand grip transferred to Gimbal B. Works fine for a whole week with no issue.
Gimbal C arrives by mail to replace dead Gimbal A
Gimbal C equipped as NXT L. Works fine.
Connected Gimbal B. Works for 1 hour.
Malfunction and goes dark.
First shows up as "unrecognized usb" then disappears completely.
Right hand grip transferred to Gimbal C. Works fine and is still working.
So in both cases of Gimbal A and Gimbal B, while equipped as NXT R, and when connected simultaneously with NXT L,
became bricked.
Every method of reset including with jumper was tried multiple times on each device. Windows does not see it neither doth VKBDevCfg.
Windows fixes relating to fast boot and power management settings were adjusted, no positive result.
Every available piece of technical info I have already located and tried, but nothing has had any effect.
This problem has happened to several other people in the past few days, it is not an isolated issue. I think replacing the pcb could just end up with the problem repeating again, if we don't first address the question of why it is happening to several people at the same time frame.
It's unfortunate but these things do happen. Let's try to work together so we can still use our great but non working expensive premium joysticks! When they work they definitely are the best.
