Can't get IL-2 GB to recognize my virtual controller

Can't get IL-2 GB to recognize my virtual controller
I have been using a Gladiator NXT stick for about a year and love it. When THQ became available I decided to upgrade. No issues. I only play IL-2 GB and COD Blitz. I then decided to add the SEM to the mix. Since GB only supports 64 buttons I followed the advice to set up a virtual controller to circumvent this. ALL buttons and axes for both controllers test fine. However, in attempting to bind commands in GB the game does not recognize any of the eight buttons on my THQ nor the third lever which I use for fuel mixture. No problem in COD as it supports 128. I have also followed the advice to uncheck all boxes in steam controller settings. Any suggestions appreciated. I have also posted this on the IL-2 forum.

Re: Can't get IL-2 GB to recognize my virtual controller
I think Il-2 has a limited number of devices it remembers and once a device is removed from the system it's just saved in a slot instead of getting deleted. When the a certain number of devices have been used in game, nothing new is accepted, unless a log file is deleted. I remember having this issue a while ago and found the resolve on their English side of forums.

That makes perfect sense. I'll look into it tomorrow.
Thanks

Problem solved! I was unable to find the thread mentioned, however, I found a log file titled Controllers.old and deleted it. That didn't work. I decided to re-install the game and in searching for the Career folder to save a copy I discovered a Devices file. (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\data\input\devices). In this file I deleted all but the most current controller. The game now accepts binds to my virtual controller. Haven't had a chance to fly and test, yet. Later today, perhaps. Now on to the other issues I'm having with SEM.
