Gunfighter mk3 broken z axis + unstable center

Postby robby » Sat Feb 12, 2022 0:27

Hello. I've just received my first vkb product, a gunfighter mk3. I've gone through most of the startup tutorials and was trying to run the calibration to see how the default Springs and cams are. I've only assembled it as it came out of the box and I'm using the latest firmware versions.

I have 2 issues:
1. Z axis isn't working at all during calibration, however I get max value *after* calibration.
2. X,Y and Rot Z axis values dance around when stick is centered.

More details
1. According to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mCajFZ9e9gw it should be fine that the Z axis doesn't work at all during calibration. However, after calibration it's shown in neutral. My stick is at a constant 65535 and nothing I do will move it from that value.

2. Furthermore, as opposed to the video, the x, y and rot z axis aren't staying at 32767 when I let go of the stick. Neither during calibration nor after. The video above have them all defaulting back to center when not engaged. They are around 32848 and 32751 and they're constantly flashing 16 points up and down.

Doing more than one calibration will change the numbers for the X,Y and Rot Z axis, but they still constantly flash up and down.

First of all, don't worry about the Z axis, as it's not used.
Second, are the sliders dancing around when you're holding the grip or when it's released?

Please post a screenshot of Profile/Axes/Physical and Logical Axes.

The X and Y are dancing both when released as well as when holding. The Z rot doesn't dance around much, however depending on which side I calibrate first on, only rotating to one side will return it to default. Never both.

I'm assuming this is the screenshot you wanted? If not, you'll have to point me to the correct place.

Values are different as can be seen after a second calibration. However issue persists. Changing usb ports from front to back didn't solve anything.

Did you pressed the Default button under Tools tab after flashing and just before calibration?

Yes, I followed all instructions under https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mCajFZ9e9gw to the letter.
The only difference from that video is the version of the firmware and the software.

sure
In the meantime I had managed to get a decently sized video file to highlight the issue with the default spring and cams, no adjustment whatsoever to the dry clutch compared to delivery settings. I won't try other parts until tomorrow in daylight.

Are you pressing End Calibr at the end? The video doesn't show that...

That time in the video, no. Here's a video where I press end calibration.

I can see you pressing Cancel Calibr before Default (there's no need for that though), but I can't actually see the End Calibr button pressed.

LE nevermind, was still on the first one, sorry.

Let's try other software/firmware combination: download VKBDevCfg 92.06 and the attached firmware. Unzip the firmware, flash it, do the Default and calibration again.

Thanks, however I don't see any alternative firmware. I do see a newer dev cfg, 0.92.26.
I also see a bootloader different than mine, 1_96.
Do you want me to try it with the same firmware I used from https://vkbcontrollers.com/?page_id=4609 ? 2.09?

Mersi, vedem

EDIT: sorry, it's late. I see you attached it on the forum
