THQ lever encoder range issue

Postby RanglingFork » Wed Nov 10, 2021 3:33

I got my THQ communicating in another thread, now I'm having trouble figuring out what the lever position outputs mean after calibration.

The lever swings about 90 degrees. Starting from the top:
0 - 20 degrees : output is 0 counts
15 degrees: output jumps straight to 65535
15 degrees to 70 degrees: output ramps from 65535 to 0 counts
70 degrees to 75 degrees: output is zero degrees
75 to 90 degrees: output jumps straight to 65535

It seems like there is some kind of range error in the raw signal or the basic interpretation of the raw signal that calibration does not fix.

I suspect this is relevant but I don't know what it means:

Please follow this EXACTLY, step by step:

1. Delete all VKB related files from your computer;
2. Download the firmware, bootloader and configurator;
3. Put all 3 files from above in the same folder and unzip them there;
4. Run VKBDevCfg, click on the Bootloader button, navigate to the firmware file you just downloaded and unzipped and flash it;
5. After flashing run VKBDevCfg again, make sure your device is selected in the upper window and click on the Default button;
6. Navigate to Global/External/External Devices and click the Find&AutoConfig button;
7. Navigate to Test/Axes1, click on the Start Calibr button and calibrate your joystick: pitch, roll, twist, ministick, minithrottle, all 3 axes on the THQ (even if you won't see the third one moving, it's working);
8. Press End calibr when done.
