Connected T rudder, lost buttons on gunfighter 2 stick

Postby =Finn= » Wed Jun 16, 2021 21:49

Hi guys
Dumb noob here.
I had the GF 2 working nicely and was able to calibrate it in wizzo. I just got my T-rudders and I am unable to get them to play well with the joystick.
I’v tried plugging them into the second port of the GF black box and running from their own black box.
I am able to get all the axis for stick and rudder working, but the buttons and hats on my gf2 are no longer recognized. I’ve tried deleting the zconfig file and re-installing the firmware for the GF2, but I’m stumped. I’m probably making some simple error somewhere! Can anybody walk me through this process, bearing in mind that I’m old and rather stupid?
Thanks

Hi Finn. Follow the specific guides to reflash your device. After you reset to default, as mentioned in the guides, plug your rudders in the same Black Box with the joystick and begin calibrating it, including the rudders in the process. After pressing the End Calibr button your rudders will be integrated in your system.
Please note that if you have MCG Pro or Ultimate with twist this would not work; if you want to replace the twist with the rudders then you'll have to flash the 'no twist' firmware and physically lock the twist.

Still doesn’t work. Is there a need, or a way to uninstall vkb software? I’m sure I’m selecting the correct model to flash: _BlackBox_Mk2_GF_MCG_Pro_v2_5.vkb.
I get the stick x and y axes and the rudder axis. Neither hat style axes is found nor are any of the stick buttons.
I am flummoxed.

That is because the grip is not properly seated. Please use this as a guide to install your grip correctly (don't worry if there's a different grip, as it's the same procedure).

Ok… it was the connection between the grip and the extension. Although the grip fits easily and perfectly on the base it wouldn’t on the extension. It will not insert deeply enough, making for intermittent and finally no contact between the 3 pins in the base and the touch plates in the extension.
I’ll have to order another extension and return the U/S one.
Thanks for the help guys!

Before returning or ordering a new one do this: release the fastener and start pressing gently on the grip while tightening the fastener back. It's advisable to have the extension resting on the table when doing this.

No go. Even without the tighter bolts in place, the grip will not insert deeply enough and rocks from side to side.
I filed a ticket. I ordered a 100mm extension to replace the 200mm that is U/S andI filed a ticket with support. Given the cost of shipping, it’s not worth returning it and then paying shipping both ways to get a warranty replacement anyway. I sent pictures and a video, so we’ll see what happens. I’m pleased with the speed of their initial response.
Either way, it’s a great stick.

There's a metal pin on the top of the extension that has to get inside one of the holes on the bottom of the grip, push it a bit to force it inside.

Trust me- I tried that. I pushed like a locomotive!
The pin on the base fits perfectly.
I’ll compare; it might be that the pin on the extension protrudes a bit too much.

Ok…I fixed it. I tapped the pin sharply with a hammer on a hard plastic t-handle and that pushed the pin down just enough to allow the grip to seat. Seems to work fine now.
So once again, the engineering solution is….get a bigger hammer.
Hope it stays fixed- the next step up in my shop is a 3 pound sledgehammer.
:)

Aw man, lucky you didn't break it :)))) The idea is not to push the pin down, but to fit it inside the hole; could've just tried to enlarge the hole a bit :)
But nevertheless, if it works then it works! :)

It fit in the hole no problem- but it was too long. Itwas either deepen the hole or shorten the pin.
I figured if I was going mess with either part, I’d better pick the cheaper one. Besides, since the hole worked for the base, I figured it was not the problem.
Cheers

You should be good as long as that metal pin gets inside the grip bottom enough to hold it firmly in place so it won't start to rotate during flight.
