Gladiator NXT Drops Connectivity during Game

Postby capobello » Thu May 13, 2021 21:11

Hello,

I recently purchased a Gladiator NXT premium right stick, it arrived a few days ago. Overall impressed with the product, but during gaming, Elite Dangerous on steam, the stick randomly drops USB connectivity and attempts to reconnect as an unrecognized device. By unplugging and plugging back in the usb does the stick re-register and start working again. It seems to be totally random but only during ED gameplay. I have left the stick plugged in during the day and haven't had any drops from connectivity.

I have tried multiple USB ports and set the root hubs to not save power, but nothing is working so far. The firmware version on my config is showing Gladiator NXT R v2.025. Any help is appreciated. Im on Windows 10, 64 bit.

Thanks!

quick update. I was able to replicate the issue outside of the game environment (I also tested across multiple steam games and had the issue). It seems to be related around the Z axis, which I am using for throttle. A lot of quick manipulations up and down seems to cause the connectivity issue, the blue led starts to flash, then alternates to red led flashing and entire stick becomes unresponsive. Only way to clear the issue is to unplug the usb and plug back in.

All other vigorous movements of all the other axis's are not causing any issue.

Try to run the JoyTester utility and, having selected your device, observe actively moving all axes.

Hi Ron61,

Okay, I ran JoyTester on all axes, everything performed pretty solid, no issues. Here are the screen shots. I also had the stick plugged in a USB 3.1 slot on my MOBO, I just transferred to a 2.0 slot to see if that helps? Could not enough power be an issue as well? Think a powered USB hub will help? Or not sure if it is just a loose connection

Is the NXT calibrated at all? We show the Profile-Axes tab.

Yes, this stick has been calibrated. I did both the out of the box calibration and then via the DevCfg tool

I think I may have identified and fixed the issue, razer synapse software was running for my mouse. I disabled it and all the random stick disconnects have completely stopped! No issues at all today. I tested on another machine and the stick had no issues either, so definitely had to be the razer software conflict!

Yeah, Razer is known for interfering with other devices, but affecting a joystick in this way is new. Thanks for updating the thread, could be useful for others too.
