Hi,
I think im having a hardware issue or software?? with the default top middle hat. It has 2 plastic hats moves 360 smoothly.
The Y axis is intermittently not responsive the x axis works just fine.
I did calibrations a few times and made sure the module is installed correctly with the white arrow down to match the contacts... and it is (i watched the module swap video).
The Y axis sometimes does not respond and sometimes it works fine a few seconds later. Sometimes the Y axis has to be press all the way up or down in order to register.
The other extra modules worked fine in the top middle swappable spot.
I noticed that this hat is super sensitive to the screws tightness.
If the screws are looser (95-99% thigh) the hat responds a bit better but still stops responding. Original screws were quite tight had to press the screw driver down to get them to unscrew.
Using the small screwdriver provided and tightened with light force until the screw just stops rotating, the y axis stops working more often.
I don't know if the module has a contact defect or the pins in the grip don't make contact with all the pads?
I requested a ticket support with "VKB North America" but want to see if this could also be a software/config issue. I have more screenshots if needed.

Re: MCG Ultimate Hat Switch axis issue
Try to swap with the other ministick (Gate Cont) and see what happens.
Re: MCG Ultimate Hat Switch axis issue
Fallout9 thank you for the prompt reply...
i tried the other modules
4 way module works buttons 28-31 fire
8 way module works buttons 28-31 fire
I swapped the top and bottom sticks (pic of new setup).
The stick that had y axis issue in the top port is working fine in the bottom port.
The stick that was fine in the bottom port has the same issue on the y axis in the top port.
If the screws are anywhere near tight the top stick y axis does not work well or just cuts out.
From this result seems like the top port has some sort of an issue, I hope that top port does not have bad contact pins??
When I loosen the screws the y axis works better but still cuts out sometimes that top port seems very sensitive to pressure.
I have the screws maybe 3-8 turns before they both stop turning.
I have to adjust the top and bottom screw until i get somewhat better function. Seems like that port has to be balanced for it to work otherwise it goes dead on the y axis.

Re: MCG Ultimate Hat Switch axis issue
Fallout9,
Tech support recommended a picture of the PINs.
If other have this issue take a closeup photo of the port.
All the gold plating is missing on the bottom pin so the connection with the PCB is bad.

Re: MCG Ultimate Hat Switch axis issue
I had the same problems. Support suggested that I clean pads and pins with cotton swab and isopropyl alcohol. This worked perfectly!

Hi Photronix,
This is a strange issue , I tried the cleaning method in the past and it worked. I took the module out for a test to see if the issue was fixed and it returned again and got worse.
I cleaned it 2 more times today again and it seems to work fine now.
The top middle port is very finicky, and the fact that the bottom pin assembly does not looks so good is a worry.
First Photo
The bottom port lowest pin also has the gold ring missing (its using tin) but looks much smother and better assembled
Second Photo
The top port lowest pin also has the gold ring missing (its using tin) but looks rough around the edges.
I don't have any pictures from others of the top middle port and close up of the bottom pin to compare if this looks fine and is properly assembled and not damaged in some way.
Hopefully it will work ok after a week of use.
