Gladiator NXT premium twist reconfiguration

Postby David » Fri Dec 18, 2020 13:50

Hi, recently i purchased a G NXT premium right and am almost satisfied. Almost, since setting it up is not trivial (but i'll manage) . My question is related to something else.

I used wizzo for easy checking and configuring my stick. I noted that the rotational axis (Yaw) is not connected to the "Yaw" in Wizzo, but to "L Brk". Is t his something i should worry about? Can i change the reading to be properly connected to "Yaw"? In the end the yaw works when flying: it is not about the functionality, just trying to get a proper book keeping.

Currently i still do not have a proper layout for the buttons and functionalities, that is something i want to arrange do during Christmas holidays. Just wanting to say i can easily reset/reconfigure without too much hassle. And i'm learning how to use the VBKDevCFG utility, if this is required. Thanks for the response.

I added an image pointing out the response when rotating the stick.

I recommend using the configurator. You can do incredible things there, including renaming the axes. Check out this link for profiles for GNXT.

DISCLAIMER: Based on my experience with Gladiator K

The configurator! Possibilities are awesome!

It's kind of a lot to wrap your head around so I recommend you read the docs first, and read all of it!
I was really eager to configure my stuff, and being a software dev I was a bit cocky and thought I'll figure it out on my own. Flopped :(
READ THE MANUAL :D :D :D There will surely be a lot of boring stuff because you want to do one specific thing, but trust me, it's worth it. You'll probably get a few ideas along the way too!

EDIT: LOL, forums are overwhelmed with Gladiator NXT search results, can't seem to find much for GK... @Ron61, is there a shared collection of profiles for the older stick/base combo? It'd be interesting to see examples of setups to learn from ;) Also, if I import an NXT profile, will I mess something up or is it OK for studying purposes?

thanks! I downloaded the files and will have a look how things work out.

To be honest, the configurator is pretty complex, to say the least. It will take a bit of self-education, which is good since i have holidays.

Thanks, I will dig into it! at least it is not something which i cannot solve myself. As a suggestion, i found some nice documents on reddit https://www.reddit.com/r/hotas/comments/k8x50i/updated_ver2_glad_nxt_prem_config_sheet/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share, where you can fill out the functions for various buttons etc, although this example is for G NXT premium specifically. This will help to remember what should do what and make the learning curve a bit steeper.

Yes, i tried to gather as much info as possible, but things seem to be rather scattered. And not a lot either.

I found this guru, who plays some tricks to easily load various joystick profiles for various games: https://github.com/Rexeh/joystick-diagrams. I checked his profiles, but he doesn't have the "K" version. in https://github.com/Rexeh/joystick-diagrams/blob/master/templates/readme.md he explains how to make your own profiles.

not saying that this is immediately solving your issue. But it seems generic enough.

It won't work, as NXT and K are different devices. You could try though for inspiration and reset to default afterwards. There are also some software video guides on the official channel: Profiles, curves, Shift, buttons to keys, with more to come.

My Gladiator NXT shows up the same way in the Wizzo app. Rudder is on the L BRK indicator. I discovered the VKBDevCfg utility which I used to calibrate the NXT. It still shows up as L BRK but it works fine in Flight Simulator.

Sorry to all, i am still working on it. hope to resolve it today. Thanks for the suggestions so far! I'll check out the video's as well.

Maybe it is not an issue for some games. However. I ran warthunder, and all was screwed up (so, wrong profile/correlation of buttons/axis to actions. I'll try to figure out what is wrong and how to solve it.
