Hello all,
I wish to use my Gladiator MkII with X-Wing Alliance, which is limited to no more than 12 joystick buttons. I would like to reassign the trigger and the button on the top of the stick to so that they act as button #1 and #2. However, I am unable to do a logical remapping of these buttons.
I have looked through the VKB Device Config manual and I have also updated the joystick firmware to the latest version. I'm also including the first two pages of the VKB device report, which shows that button #14 is set as button #1. I seem to be doing what the manual suggests. Yet physical button 1 continues to register as logical button 1 in the software.
What am I overlooking?
Thanks!

Re: Gladiator MkII: unable to make virtual buttons
You have to press the Set button to save the changes.

Thanks for the reply!
I've hit the 'Set' button. The joystick appears to reboot and there's no error message. I can't hit 'set' again because "No new data!!!". I've tried to do this procedure multiple times now, including hitting 'set' each time, and still can't get it to work.

Set works if you have made changes in controller settings.
As for me the best way to use joystick buttons is to map them to keystrokes. Almost no limits))

Yes, I realize that. I added the "No new data!!!" comment to show that yes, I did indeed double check that the settings have been set in the stick.
That may be, but I haven't found a keystroke that would work. And the logical button remapping should just solve this problem, assuming that we could get it to work.

Re: Gladiator MkII: unable to make virtual buttons
I'll try to explain, let me know if it needs further clarification:
Open VKBDevCfg and calibrate your joystick, then and go to Profile/Buttons/Physical layer. Click on the first button on the chart (first photo, 1) and in the new opened window click on the logical assigned button (first photo, 2), pull down the roll down menu and set it as a Button if not already (first photo, 3), check the AutoMapping box (first photo, 4) and press the right arrow (first photo, 5) to move to the next button. Do the same for all the colors on the chart except of grey. At the end your button chart should look like second photo, 1.
Now check the Poll option (second photo, 2) and press on your trigger. Button 46 will light red on the chart (second photo, 3). Click on it and in the new window click on the logical assignment (third photo, 1), then uncheck the AutoMapping box (third photo, 2). Set the logical button 1 in the Butt1 box (third photo, 3). Close the window (third photo, 4) and continue to do the same for the rest of your 11 buttons.
At the end press the Set button (third photo, 5) to write the changes to your profile. You could save this profile (Save button) and in case you want to use the joystick with its default profile click the Default button and re-calibrate. When you want to swap back to the 12 buttons profile just load it up.

Hi Fallout9,
I took me a while to find time to try it, but I'm happy to say that your detailed instructions worked. Many thanks!
