[SOLVED] VKB Pedals worl like switch (on off)

Postby metal_fire » Wed Aug 19, 2020 18:24

Hi!
I've a strange problem with my pedals...
In a simply way when i press the pedal (left or right) it seem work like switch...bum from no change to 100% istant. I don't have touch nothing...but i've no clue how to resolve this!
First of all i've update firmware ad reset to default...nothing... in the test window when i press the pedal all seems correct, in the sim (DCS or the new FS2020) don't work correctly.
Someone have some clue for me? I've attach some info that i suppose maybe useful

Updating the firmware and resetting to default afterwards is the right way, but there's something else needed: calibration. Also make sure that you're binding the rudders as analog (axis) in games, not digital (buttons).

Hi and thanks for the help :)
I've some question on calibration, I saw a video un youtube, basically I've to push the button "start calibration" press left and right pedal and press "end calibration". I't seems very easy but..it's correct?
In the sim the rudders are correct.
Thanks :)

Yup, that’s how it works - press Start Calibr, move your axes end to end, press End Calibr and you’re done. It might take longer on a MCG Pro grip with all its 8 axes, but on the rudders is really fast as there’s only 1 axis to calibrate.
Glad you’ve got it working, enjoy :)

Oh sorry, it was a misunderstanding!
I mean in the game the rudder are correct set as axis...I tried (again) the calibration but nothing...all the same work like a switch..sob
Thx :)

Put the Precision back to 11 on axis nr. 7 and press Set.
What is the exact name of the control you try to bind the rudders in game to?

Done, and no change :(

I don't know if i have understand the question (my poor english don't help in this  ) but in FS2020 I've set under the VKBSIM BLACK BOX Joystick axes DX X+ and DX X- (right and left)
I've notice another thing (maybe it's nothing but...) this:

Also the orange box has a red led (i remember when i've bought it was blue)..something to worried about?
Thx in advance :)

Check the cable connecting the rudders to the black box for that error, might've got disconnected.

The reason you get choppy movement in game is because you bound the rudders, which are analog (axis) to digital input (buttons). I'm not sure where you found those DX controls, but for example, the pitch axis has a control for axis in the control called Elevator Axis and controls for buttons: Elevator Up and Elevator Down. The rudder has a control for Rudder Axis (analog) and 2 controls for buttons (digital): Rudder Left and Rudder Right. Same with Aileron. Your scope is to bind the rudders to an analog control, not digital.

Also check this post to see exactly how to bind controls.

Controlled...all ok but red led and blink green led (but I can access to device, read data..set data...strange!)

BUT

Aaaand it works!!! Sorry, this is the hint you gave me in first post, I was confuse about the definition on the FS2020 of axes and digital, it call joystick R-axis X (the correct axes for the rudder) and joystick R-axis X+ (the right pedal) and joystick R-axis X- (the left pedal) [P.s. I've italian language, in IT FS2020 tranlslate even this inJoystick axis DX X+ and DX X-and it's bad and a bit confusing...!]
I post an image of the correct setup (in english) so if someone is noob like me...maybe he don't lost his mind in this simple (now is simple  ) issue.
Thx fallout9 and sorry for this lost of time

No worries and I'm glad to see you're up and running! The game bindings seem a bit confusing at the beginning, but after you get the hang of it, it really starts to make sense the way they presented them - I really like the bindings mode and I find it almost on par with DCS, which have the best binding mode of all flight simulators.
The flashing red light try to fix it by pressing the Default button in Tools tab and re-calibrate afterwards.
